Dr. Ashok M. V
Dr. Ashok Mysore, Professor of Psychiatry at St. John's Medical College Hospital, (www.stjohns.in) Bangalore has been working in the field of Autism for over a decade. Through the hospital-based service as well as the Autism clinic at the Unit of Hope, the St. John’s Centre for Children with Special needs, he has formed a large informal network with several autism centres in the city. With this support, he has organized ‘Global Autism Convention’ I and II in 2011 and 2018. In fact, this platform served to bring many Indian professionals and families on a common platform. The Indian Council for Medical Research (besides intra-mural funds) have supported his phenotypical studies focused on adaptations and standardizations of measures, describing clinical and neuropsychological profiles, and more recently in developing an early screening measure (9-18 months) for ASD. His PhD students are exploring broader phenotypes and neurocognition.
He has established a centre dedicated to autism service and studies, called the Centre for Advanced Research and Excellence in Autism and Developmental Disorders (CAREADD).
