Dr Nidhi Singhal
Dr. Nidhi Singhal has received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from University of Delhi and has been involved in the development sector in India for the past two decades. She is the Director of Research and Trainings at Action For Autism (AFA), a Delhi based not-for-profit that provides lifespan services to individuals with autism and developmental conditions, their families and professionals who work with them. Started in 1991, AFA impacts approximately 45,000 lives annually. AFA’s research, awareness and advocacy activities have impacted policy and legislation in India. In her role, Dr. Nidhi facilitates a range of long and short-term training programs for individuals with autism, their parents, professionals, and other organizations, sensitization, awareness and advocacy related activities with corporates, civic bodies, government agencies, and lay persons. She is a core faculty on the diploma and graduate programs for autism. Dr. Nidhi is also a PI or co-Investigator on several autism related research projects which meaningfully impacts the autism sector in India. Recognized as an autism expert by the Government of India, Dr. Nidhi serves on various committees with the Indian government for development of curricula for various Certificate, Diploma and bachelor’s programs, assessment of quality of service and training institutes in India, and development of government schemes as per the Indian disability law amongst others. She also serves on the International Steering Committee developing a WHO ICF Core Set for ASD, INSAR Diversity Committee, editorial board for the journal Autism and Adulthood. She is also a reviewer for several leading international journals including Journal of Autism and Developmental Disabilities, Research in Autism Spectrum Disorders, Journal of Intellectual Disability.
